In September 1959, W. H. Trengrove, Trengrove and Marshall, architects, advertised tenders for the construction of a new office building for P. G. Ellis and Co Limited. The building was to be constructed with reinforced concrete and brick and situated at 260 Cashel Street. Modernist in its architectural design, the building made extensive use of windows on the northern, eastern, and western facades.

From 5 July 1965, Hudson Sanderson and Barton, accountants, had their offices in the building. Other occupants in the following years included D. R. Hastie Chartered Accountant (1972), Sturrocks Properties Limited (1978), Green and Hahn Photography (1985), and North West Construction (1987).

By 2010, the building was occupied by Trade Aid.

In March 2013, the property was obtained by the Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority to become the site of a stadium. The building was subsequently demolished.
